Yes, Facebook is the winner, or rather MySpace is the loser. I haven't tried the other networks you mentioned so I can't comment.
I'm "flooding Facebook with content" by importing an RSS feed, although it is impossible to know what the uptake of this content via Facebook is.
As far as learning is concerned, if I was forced to use Facebook right now, I'd try to grab the stickability aspect by placing a widget which contains "essence of Facebook" where ever I wanted learners to go - web page, VLE, etc.
